Arsenal closing in on double swoop for Aouar and Partey

Arsenal are ready to stop lowballing Lyon for Houssem Aouar and Atletico Madrid for Thomas Partey but need to generate funds to sign them.

The Gunners have been agitating over paying premium fees for their priority targets this summer but after Mikel Arteta met with Edu, a decision was taken to switch tact and sell to buy.

When Raul Sanllehi left the club in August, the North London club gave Arteta and Edu full executive power to make the signings they felt were best for the future of the Arsenal.

Sources close to Arsenal Central now suggest that once enough money has been generated by outgoings, Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey will join the club.

Arsenal will look to sell Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Sead Kolasinac and Sokratis to free up enough cash to sign Aouar and Partey.

The latter is Arteta’s main priority and if it comes to it, the Spanish manager will have to pass up on the chance to sign Lyon’s French star.

While the arrivals of Gabriel Magalhães, Cedric and William Saliba have added more quality to the Arsenal squad, there is still very little in the way of midfield protection for the Gunners’ back line.

Arsenal are hopeful of signing Partey and Aouar for a combined £90million despite both clubs demanding closer to the £50m mark.

Arteta is running out of time to get a deal over the line but the next week will be telling. If the North Londoners generate enough cash, fans could see two borderline world class stars join the ranks.
